Joao was a very knowledgeable host - he was professional and generous with the pouring's of 10 varieties of wines from around Portugal. He gave such a great insight to the different types of wines and grape varieties, and we discussed flavours, smells, tannin levels and taste! He took his time to engage and explain things and it was set in a somewhat informal setting yet we went through a lot of information. I walked away with so much new knowledge and I think this course is great if you want to really indulge and understand about Portuguese wine varieties in full! I would recommend this place as well because it's in a cute little old church that's now a bar/restaurant.
This experience is truly amazing. We had Bruno as our tour guide and he was truly great. We were picked up directly at our airbnb which was extremely convenient, and then taken on an amazing drive to the heart of the Douro Valley. The places chosen by the team for us to visit are perfect in that they aren't too touristy and slightly out of the way, but they also are made to accept tourists in a way that makes the experience very welcoming and comfortable. I thought the value was exceptional in terms of the amount of food and wine served, as well as the exceptional service of Bruno and the places we went to. The experience was truly very special and was made even better by Bruno. We had a very memorable day and I'd certainly recommend this exact tour to absolutely anyone!
